The Bow Back Side Chair was first introduced in Philadelphia in the 1780’s during the Federalist Period. They were the first style to be mass produced for families, having been originally built in sets of 12 or more.
These types of Windsor chairs have endured as a simple country chair from the past. Our bow backs are handmade with a squared bow and a single carved beading.
